The Beautiful Come Back
The ancient manuscripts say that the best comeback in history was Jesus’s resurrection of Lazarus. But this week the history books must be re-written for the comeback we all had the fortune to witness made Jesus’s miracle look like child’s play compared to Trump’s victory in the 2024 US elections. What has this got to do with domain names and side hustles you may be wondering. A lot! It should provide all of us with much needed motivation, with the realization that anything is possible!
Here was a man who a few years ago had been indicted on multiple criminal and civil charges, was fined $489 million for corrupt business practices and was arguably facing jail. His own party had deserted him after the riots in Washington on Jan 6, 2021.
Trump however is no ordinary man. You don’t build multiple towers with your name emblazoned on the top in the most expensive and competitive real estate market in the world without possessing something special. He survived six corporate bankruptcies and rebuilt his personal wealth to an estimated $8 billion, depending on the day of the week. Contrary to popular belief he was never made personally bankrupt.
Not only did he fight his way through his corporate troubles to come out the other side wealthier than ever before he continued to fight on even after losing an election, being vilified by 75% of the country, two assasination attempts and finding himself constantly behind in the polls. Love him or hate him you cannot deny Trump’s incredible resilience, ambition and drive. He was only the second president in history to be elected to a second term after running and losing an election.
We must ask ourselves, what can we learn from Trump’s achievements, his unbelievable fortitude, his never give up attitude? And, how can we execute our own comeback?
The first lesson we must learn is, everything is possible. Trump achieved what most thought was impossible. To attain the most powerful job in the world from a low point of being billions of dollars in debt accompanied by an avalanche of potentially devastating problems isn’t only about resilience. It’s achieved by adopting a unique frame of mind, one of belief rather than hope.
Secondly, the how. The key is putting your head down and dealing with one challenge at a time. Failure is caused by allowing yourself to feel overwhelmed which leads to inaction or knee jerk reactions. Maintaining an inner calm while dealing with one problem at a time is essential. You must also motivate yourself by visualizing what that successful comeback looks like to you.
We are all capable of a monumental comeback. It’s all about confidence, perseverance and vision. Don’t let the naysayers distract you. At the bottom of the ladder the dullards are plenty. There are few voices of positivity, only doom and gloom. You must maintain your own counsel.
Let Trump’s achievement be an inspiration to us all. If he can do it you can too. If you are feeling low, perhaps you have lost your job, maybe you have experienced a failed business, spiraling debt, a failed relationship or perhaps you haven’t sold a domain name for some time, remember this, there is a comeback in you. Never give up. Shoot for what most believe is impossible. Prove the doubters wrong. Only this time do it differently. It’s worth the struggle, for when you manifest your comeback it will be a beautiful thing.
